Why was this piece initially composed? What was the moral of the tale, in the context of the Soviet Union? What is still relevant for children of this day and age? Moreover, how did the composer manage to give a unique musical personality to each character? What does the music say about the temperament of Peter, of his grand-father?

A lot will be explained and talked about during the afternoon, and several exercises will be realized, in pair or alone, to ignite the children’s creative abilities (imagination, writing, illustrating).

-> You can expect your child to learn about Sergeï Prokofiev and classical music, about the historical context at the time of the tale’s creation, about the history and characteristics of the instruments. Moreover, your child will practice attentive listening, connecting his musical sensitivity to his emotional intelligence to understand the story’s unfolding. The last part of the workshop will call on the story-telling skills of the children.

The Field-Trips are a wonderful opportunity for curious and talented children to delve deeply into rich subjects, learn, ask questions, create under my guidance, and do so in the company of similarly passionate peers who also enjoy intellectual, emotional stimulation!
